Meet Lyn

Whether performing, coaching students and clients, or facilitating team building in organizations, music is Lyn’s language. Her mission is building community and cultivating connection through the power of music and sound. 

Lyn delivers on this through an approach informed by 25 years of experience as a music director, singer-songwriter, vocal coach, and educator. She brings a depth of understanding of how to guide people through powerful music experiences that lead to connection, impact, and transformation.

Presently, Lyn is Principal of Lyn Koonce Music—an umbrella organization for her work as a vocal artist, singer–songwriter, and creative curator and facilitator of Circle Sounds where she presents highly interactive group programs, workshops, and keynotes. Her study and training with Musica do Circulo, Bobby McFerrin, and Music for People give Lyn a breadth of knowledge and cross-cultural understanding to celebrate and leverage differences to create rich musical and embodied experiences.

At the core of Lyn’s work is the belief that everyone is naturally creative and imaginative. Through her playful and magnetic spirit, she ignites and harnesses the energy of her groups, audiences, and students to create, explore, and achieve their aspirations.

Lyn holds her BM in Music Education and her MM in Choral Conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has studied at The Ohio State University.

In her spare time, you can find Lyn crafting spontaneous musical grooves—coaxing her friends and family to join in—or she’s planning her next immersive travel adventure. She and her wife, Jeanie, make their home in Greensboro, NC.
