Meet Lyn

Lyn Koonce is a facilitator, vocal coach, and musician who believes in the power of music to build community and cultivate connection.

Holding a B.A. in music education and a masters in conducting, Lyn brings a rich understanding of how to guide people through powerful musical experiences. In addition, she has studied improvisation with Bobby McFerrin, Bobby Previte, and Music for People, and she is trained in a practice called Musica do Circulo (Music from the Circle), based in Brazil. These modalities inspire and inform her signature Circle Sounds modality — a powerful group process designed to help people deepen their sense of trust, communication, and creative energy.

As a facilitator with a rich musical background, Lyn brings her distinctive style and creative approach to a wide range of groups seeking to build connection. Not only does she work with diverse singing groups, bands, and instrumental ensembles to help members develop their trust in each other and their music, she brings Circle Sounds into organizations to help teams collaborate, communicate, and connect more effectively through innovative team development workshops.

An award-winning singer/songwriter and instrumentalist, Lyn brings her unique blend of folk, pop, and blues to venues throughout the United States.

As a kid growing up in eastern North Carolina and Rhode Island, Lyn discovered her love of music while practicing violin, piano, saxophone, and guitar — to name just a few. Her passion never wore off. Even while teaching music in public schools, pursuing music education through an advanced degree in conducting, and maintaining a private studio for vocal and guitar coaching, Lyn never stopped writing, playing, and singing her own songs.

Lyn has toured house concerts and venues all over the U.S. as a contemporary folk artist known for her soulful lyrics and compelling stage presence. She has shared the stage with artists like the Indigo Girls (playing her most recent album, “Begin Again”), won prestigious awards, and charted the Top 15 on Folk Radio.

Lyn is a winner of American Songwriter Magazine’s Lyric Contest for her song, “The River” and a finalist for the Great American Song Contest with her upcoming release “My Old House.”
